Organic Week in Washington, D.C., is the Organic Trade Association’s signature event and the only one of its kind.
 
It is a celebration of the organic supply chain. Everyone from small organic producers to major growers, from family-run organic operations to nationwide companies, from researchers and policy advocates to distributors and retailers will all come together to advance organic policy priorities.

It is a week of education and advocacy. Join discussions on federal policy issues critical to our nation’s nearly $50 billion organic sector. ORGANIC CONFLUENCES SUMMIT

Monday + Tuesday (morning), May 21-22

The Organic Center’s Confluences Summit takes place all day Monday and Tuesday morning, May 21-22, at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The 2018 event is all about advancing the transfer of knowledge to support organic farming. The conference brings together organic stakeholders to examine ways to improve research communication among farmers, scientists, extension agents, industry members and key policy influencers.

MEMBER MEETINGS + WORKSHOP (Member Exclusive*)

Tuesday (afternoon), May 22

The Organic Trade Association’s member meetings and workshop begin once the Organic Confluences Summit wraps up on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 22, at our headquarters in The Hall of the States. What are we up against in 2018 and beyond? What policy issues will be in the spotlight? Which priorities should your business focus on? What can you and your trade association do to protect, promote, and advance organic? We will explore these questions through expert insights, meaningful dialogue, and innovative solutions as we work together to shape the future of organic.

HILL VISITS DAY (Member Exclusive*)

Wednesday, May 23

The Organic Trade Association’s Hill Visits Day will take place on Wednesday, May 23, in hundreds of offices and meeting rooms across Capitol Hill. Help us share positive messages of jobs, growth, and consumer demand as the nation’s policymakers develop the Farm Bill. You will meet with Members of Congress and Agency leaders, and leave with new advocacy tools and personal connections to help you better promote and protect organic in your community, your state, and at the national level.

POLICY CONFERENCE

Thursday, May 24

The Organic Trade Association’s Policy Conference takes place Thursday, May 24, at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. The 2018 event is all about the intersection of organic and technology. We are exploring ways in which the next generation of big ideas and innovation can catapult organic from its current 5% of U.S. agriculture to the scale necessary to make a significant and meaningful impact. This fast-paced conference puts policy perspectives from the public sector into context with the latest examples from the private sector.

AN ACTION-PACKED WEEK

Organic Week in Washington, D.C., also includes these can’t-miss events:

  • Organic PAC Fundraiser- On Tuesday, May 22, our Political Action Committee will host a fundraiser to help support elected leaders who make organic food, fiber and farming a priority in policy decisions. If you’d like to learn more about Organic PAC, let us know.
  • Congressional Reception – On Wednesday, May 23, this evening event will offer an unmatched opportunity to network with colleagues and foster direct relationships with key government officials and VIP guests in the backdrop of Capitol Hill.
  • Loop the Lincoln –Clif Bar will also host leaders from organic companies, farmers, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and other Hill staff for a casual 5.6K loop around the National Mall.
