The OTA Calendar is full of events that are either organized or attended by OTA. We are pleased to organize and support dozens of events that advance organic agriculture and trade throughout the year. Some of these are signature OTA events hosted for members, while others are regional, national, or international conferences where OTA staff are featured keynotes and panelists. Whether we’re bringing the latest news and trends about the organic industry to diverse audiences, sponsoring business networking gatherings, or hosting listening sessions to gather feedback from the sector, you can count on OTA to be part of the action.

California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF’s) 2017 Annual Meeting and Conference events will take place February 9-10, 2017, in Visalia, California. This year’s theme—Organic Innovation and Inspiration—will feature the innovative techniques organic producers, handlers, retailers, and other change-makers are using to address current economic and environmental issues, as well as big ideas for tackling the challenges of tomorrow. The festivities begin Thursday evening with the first annual CCOF Foundation Awards Feast. Hear from the next generation of organic producers and the champions who are helping them build their careers in agriculture. Friday’s full-day conference will focus on the innovations that are shaping our organic world. The Consumer Federation of America's Annual National Food Policy Conference will be held April 6-7 at the Capital Hilton Hotel in Washington, DC.

OTA’s Executive Director/CEO Laura Batcha will be a panelist on a facilitated session on Empowering the Ethical Eater Thursday, April 7, from 10:45 a.m. to noon. OTA member Grady Britton will host "Portland's Bounty: B Corp + OTA Networking Event" in Portland, OR on April 7 from 5-7 PM. Portland (and Oregon) is home to some of the finest natural & organic food and drink in the land. Come network with local B Corps, Organic Trade Association (OTA) members, and other local companies who are interested in Oregon's thriving food and beverage industry. There will be food, drinks, music and a raffle of B Corp prizes too!

A Transatlantic Dialogue on Organic Food Production and Trade

Join OTA and the German American Chambers of Commerce on April 20, 2016 to discuss the global growing demand for organic trade with experts from Germany. The roundtable discussion will take place at OTA Headquarters: 444 N. Capitol St. NW, Suite 445A, Washington D.C., 20001. Speakers include Astrid Jakobs de Padua, Minister Counselor of Food and Agriculture, Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Washington, D.C. and Dr. Carola Strassner, Professor Sustainable Food Systems at Münster University of Applied Sciences & MD a’verdis Sustainable Foodservice Solutions.

Retail Innovation Council's Spring 2016 Session will take place at The Cloister, Sea Island, Georgia, from April 21-22, 2016. The Council's mission is to evaluate and determine what new innovative packaging, product, or program would be of added benefit to the consumer and will positively impact the grocery industry by being developed and launched. The Council consists of 11 Retail Executive Board members and 4 non-retail members, all of whom are highly respected experts in the grocery industry. The members meet twice a year to review new and innovative products, packaging, and marketing ideas that may have a significant impact on the grocery industry.

USDA Informational Session - Organic Certification Cost Share

Thursday, April 28, 2016 - 10:00am to 12:00pm

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is hosting an information session and stakeholder workshop on the Organic Certification Cost Share Programs on April 28, 2016. The objective of the session is to share information on the current state of the program and discuss a proposal for improving the program, including the potential for Farm Service Agency involvement in program implementation. Currently, two organic certification cost share programs are available to assist certified organic operations in defraying the costs associated with organic certification. Organic operations may receive up to 75 percent of their certification costs, not to exceed $750.
