Farmers Advisory Council Fly-In

The Organic Trade Association’s Farmers Advisory Council (FAC) is organizing a farmer fly-in scheduled for November 28-30.  FAC’s goal during this event is to meet with members of the Senate and House Ag Committee to discuss the upcoming Farm Bill.  Meetings are also expected to be scheduled with USDA, White House, and other DC-based Ag groups to discuss issues of concern to organic farmers.

Webinar: E.U. Traces | Electronic Certification of Inspection System

The European Union now requires electronic certificates of inspection for imports of organic products.  All shipments must have an e-certification by October 2017.  In this webinar, the Organic Trade Association will review the new EU Traces system.  We will cover the basics of what the system is, how it works, how to get registered, and cover other frequently asked questions tha OTA members have submitted. Trade Mission to Hong Kong and Macau

OTA will lead a dedicated trade mission to Hong Kong and Macau from October 12-16.  Hong Kong is quickly becoming a top export destination for U.S. organic products. This trade mission will include a market briefing, retail tours, and 1:1 meetings with pre-qualified buyers all pre-arranged by OTA.

Labeling Textiles Webinar

The Organic Trade Association, Global Organic Textile Standard, and Textile Exchange are coordinating a joint webinar to provide the industry with guidance on labeling textiles that contain organic material for sale in the United States. Any company with product sold in the United States or that is planning to begin sales in the U.S. is invited to attend the webinar. There is no cost to attend. Learn more about U.S. regulations for organic textile labeling, different kinds of organic claims, and how you can use the Organic Content Standard (OCS) and Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) to support your communications on products. Live Organic Pop-Up Shop

From May 4-6, 2017, the Organic Trade Association's Fiber Council will host a two-day organic fiber and textiles pop-up event! The event will take place at a health food store in New York City that will showcase certified organic fiber products and brands across all categories nationwide. The purpose is to raise awareness, promote organic fiber and textiles, and educate shoppers and the media on why purchasing organic fiber and textiles matters for people and the environment. Farm Bill Educational Summit hosted by Agri-Pulse

Monday, March 20, 2017 - 3:15pm

Agri-Pulse, the nation’s leading source of farm and food policy information, will hold a Farm Bill Educational Summit at the National Press Club on March 20. The Organic Trade Association will be one of the sponsors of the event, and OTA CEO, Laura Batcha, will be on a panel to talk about organic and the opportunities it offers. The event will be attended by key congressional staffers and policy makers who will be directly involved in the creation of the 2018 Farm Bill.
