Dairy Council

The Organic Trade Association Dairy Council brings together farmers, handlers, processors, and manufacturers to discuss ideas around promotion, research, and education; to vocalize the benefits of the sector; to identify opportunities for continuous improvements and advance solutions; and to advocate for dairy policy in alignment with the Organic Trade Association's policy process.

  • Alexandre Ecodairy Farms - Alexandre Family Farm is a 5th generation farm located in Northern California. We care about our kids, cows, critters, the community, the land, the water, and you, our customers.
  • Aurora Organic Dairy - Aurora Organic Dairy is the leading producer and processor of store-brand organic milk and butter for U.S. retailers. Based in Boulder, Colorado, we operate organic dairy, heifer, and calf farms in Colorado and Texas, as well as an organic dairy processing plant in Platteville, Colorado.
  • D & M Family Farm - D & M Family Farm is an organic dairy farm in Southeastern Wisconsin with a milking herd of 50 holstein cows, 341 acres of hay, pasture grasses, and small grains, in addition to an array of small animals. With chickens, goats, pigs, and children free range on the farm, D & M Family Farm believes in farming organically & sustainably to grow healthy, local food sold directly to the community.

  • Harmony Organic Dairy LLC - Harmony Organic started as two farm families with a dream to provide delicious organic milk to the public without compromising their beliefs or principles. Harmony Organic's farm, located near the foothills of Southern Twin Falls Idaho, has been exclusively organic from the start.
  • Maple Hill Creamery, LLC - Today, Maple Hill has over 150 small family farms from which we source our milk. But back at the very beginning, there was only one family and one farm—Stone Creek Farm—a 250 acre dairy farm that Tim and Laura Joseph purchased in 2003.
  • Mensonides LLC - Providence Farms are organic dairy farms owned and operated by Mensonides LLC. We are located in Enumclaw, Washington.
  • Organic Valley - Organic Valley is America's largest cooperative of organic farmers and one of the nation's leading organic brands. Its 2,000 members span 34 states, making up 14% of certified organic farms in the U.S.
  • Perk Farm Organic Dairy - Perk Farm Organic Dairy is a 3rd generation family owned dairy operation that raises registered organic Jerseys.
  • Pleasantview Farm
  • Sheffers Grassland Dairy LLC - Sheffer's Grassland Dairy is an organic grazing farm owned and operated by Eric Sheffer and his father Wallace Sheffer. The farm is considered to be a “grazing farm” because the cows’ diet primarily consists of the various grasses the cows eat while on pasture.
  • Stonyfield Farm, Inc. - As the leading organic yogurt maker, Stonyfield takes care with everything it puts into its yogurts and everything it keeps out. By saying no to toxic persistent pesticides, artificial hormones, antibiotics and GMOs, Stonyfield has been saying yes to delicious, healthy food for more than 35 years.
  • Western Organic Dairy Producers Alliance (WODPA) - The Mission for the Western Organic Dairy Producers Alliance is to preserve, protect, and ensure the sustainability and integrity of organic dairy farming across the west.

How to Join the Council and Eligibility Requirements

In order to be eligible to join the Council, you must be an Organic Trade Association member.  If you are an OTA member interested in joining the Dairy Council, please reach out to Johanna Mirenda, Organic Trade Association’s Farm Policy Director.

If you are not an Orgnaic Trade Association member, we welcome you to join the Organic Trade Association as a member.  The Organic Trade Association is the membership-based business association for organic agriculture and products in North America.  The Organic Trade Association is the leading voice for the organic trade in the United States, representing over 9,500 organic businesses across 50 states.  Its members include growers, shippers, processors, certifiers, farmers' associations, distributors, importers, exporters, consultants, retailers, and others.  To learn more about the benefits of OTA membership and how to join, contact Danielle Cote.

Are you a small-to-medium-sized farmer? You may be eligible to join the Organic Trade Association as a farmstead member and receive full OTA membership benefits and voting rights for only $50 per year.  This membership category is for small-scale organic farmers with annual organic sales less than $250,000 who are also current members of one of the participating organizations in the Organic Trade Association’s Farmers Advisory Council.  To find out more about the Organic Trade Association’s farmstead membership, please contact Johanna Mirenda.
