The Organic Trade Association: Your Voice in Washington, D.C.
The Organic Trade Association (OTA) serves as the voice of the U.S. organic industry on Capitol Hill. As the only trade association solely dedicated to advancing organic, OTA promotes and protects organic agriculture and trade through legislative and regulatory advocacy.
Located in the landmark Hall of States building—just steps from Union Station and within sight of the U.S. Capitol—OTA maintains strong relationships with Members of Congress and their staff, as well as key federal agencies including the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Organic Program (NOP), the National Organic Standards Board (NOSB), and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Organic is a different kind of regulation—voluntary, market-based, and rooted in public-private partnership. OTA advocates for sound and sensible organic standards that add value for farmers and businesses, reduce fraud, support U.S. production, and keep pace with evolving consumer demand.
OTA members are always welcome to use the D.C. office as their home base while in town. Whether you need a place to meet, a desk for the day, or support connecting with policymakers, our Government Affairs team is here to help.
