Key Priorities Discussed in DC:
Protecting the Organic Seal: Ensuring the USDA Organic label remains strong, credible, and enforced.
Expanding Market Access: Advocating for policies and funding that open new opportunities for organic businesses and producers.
Fraud Prevention and Research: Pushing for continued investment in oversight tools and scientific research to strengthen the integrity and resilience of the organic sector.
Opposing Rollbacks: Addressing concerns over USDA’s recent decision to rescind proposed organic pet food and mushroom standards—voluntary regulations that add value and reduce regulatory burden for many organic producers.
While Congress is currently focused on reconciliation, signs point to growing momentum for a new farm bill—potentially even by the end of the year. OTA is making sure organic voices are heard loud and clear as negotiations take shape.
Looking Ahead: Organic Week 2025
OTA will return to Washington this September for Organic Week, our flagship advocacy fly-in. Member participation will be critical to advancing the organic agenda and influencing decision-makers face-to-face.
Stay engaged. Stay informed. Together, we’re building a stronger future for organic.
