The OTA Calendar is full of events that are either organized or attended by OTA. We are pleased to organize and support dozens of events that advance organic agriculture and trade throughout the year. Some of these are signature OTA events hosted for members, while others are regional, national, or international conferences where OTA staff are featured keynotes and panelists. Whether we’re bringing the latest news and trends about the organic industry to diverse audiences, sponsoring business networking gatherings, or hosting listening sessions to gather feedback from the sector, you can count on OTA to be part of the action.

WEBINAR: COVID-19 Forum: Financial Stimulus Options and Cash Management Strategies

    Tuesday, April 7, 2020 - 2:00pm to 3:00pm

As a result of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, the Small Business Administration established several new programs designed to provide financial relief to small businesses, co-ops, non-profits and farms. Organic Trade Association members are invited to a free webinar and forum to learn more about the programs – including the new Paycheck Protection Program. The program will be held next Tuesday, April 7th at 2:00 Eastern.

Who qualifies, how to access the funds, and more will be detailed by Michael Stein, an attorney on the U.S. House of Representatives Small Business Committee who helped draft the Act. We’ll also hear from global accounting firm Marcum about risk and cash management strategies for business. There will be ample time for Q&A, and an opportunity for members to exchange information about what they are experiencing during the crisis, and how their businesses are committing to assist. This is the first in a biweekly series of Forums for OTA members to learn and exchange information during the COVID-19 crisis.

REGISTER HERE. For more information contact Angela Jagiello.

WEBINAR: The Organic Center Presents: Building Soil Health in Organic Systems

WEBINAR: The Organic Center Presents: Building Soil Health in Organic Systems

    Friday, April 17, 2020 - 1:00pm to 2:00pm

Healthy soils are essential for resilient crop production and supporting our ecosystem. Unfortunately, soils in the United States are being degraded by unsustainable agricultural practices. Techniques used by organic farmers can help stop soil health degradation, or even restore soil health in previously degraded soils, because they replenish soil organic carbon and preserve underground biodiversity. However, the specific impacts of organic practices on soil health are not well understood.  Broad surveys of soil health comparing organic and conventional systems consistently show the benefits of organic farming, but rarely compare strategies within organic systems to understand where these benefits arise, or how they can be maximized. This webinar will look at new research on the benefits of organic farming to soil health and climate change mitigation, and specific organic soil-building practices to illuminate strategies that have the biggest impacts on soil health.

It will facilitate open and thoughtful discussions by organic industry leaders, policy experts, organic farmers, retailers and everyone in between looking for clarity on what’s happening now, how to prepare for the future and how to continue advancing organic. This is the first Food Tank summit focused exclusively on organic agriculture.

Day 3 will have you on your feet (Wednesday, June 10)
ADVOCACY DAY is a meaningful way to lend your voice and help educate the nation’s top policymakers on the importance of organic. Members will work in small teams to attend hundreds of pre-scheduled meetings across Capitol Hill. We’ll toast a full day of advocating for organic with cocktails and appetizers, side by side with policy makers, during our Congressional Reception.
