Save the date! Once again, COTA is organizing a business-builder breakfast for Canadian companies during Natural Products Expo West. On November 24th Bill C-18, also known as the “Agricultural Growth Act”, passed the House of Commons. This omnibus bill amends nine acts relating to Agriculture and Agrifood, including the Plant Breeders’ Right Act.  COTA and other organic organization called on the government to amend the bill to better protect farmers’ right to save seed. This week, COTA chaired meetings of an organic subgroup at the Canada-Mexico Partnership, a ten-year old formal bilateral trade and government platform between the two countries. Delegates included regulators, government and embassy officials, as well as industry participants. COTA is in discussion to have the organic sector represented at SIAL Canada 2015 on April 28th to 30th, 2015 at Direct Energy Centre, Toronto. SIAL is the largest international food and food equipment tradeshow in Canada. A 12% off early-bird special is available before November 30th, 2014. For more information contact Henry Chen.
