ANUGA

ANUGA will take place October 6-11 in Cologne, Germany. Organic Trade Association will once again participate in ANUGA the largest food trade fair in the world for 2017.  OTA will host 8 companies at Anuga in the Organic Hall.  The OTA participant package includes 1 round-trip flight, 1 hotel room for the duration of the show, 1m tabletop space, and signage at the show. In order to qualify, you must promote certified organic product of 51% or more U.S. origin ingredients by value or volume.

Japanese Journalist Bootcamp & the 2nd Annual Organic Lifestyle Expo

Tuesday, July 25, 2017 - 2:45pm to Sunday, July 30, 2017 - 7:45pm

The Japanese Journalist Bootcamp & 2nd Annual Organic Lifestyle Expo will take place from July 25-30 in Tokyo Japan. OTA will host 20 key Japanese journalists and influencers on a certified organic farm outside of Tokyo for an organic 101 bootcamp.  Journalists will learn about organic agriculture principles, regulations, markets, and trends.  They will experience first-hand the benefits of organic and share the experience with their readers.  Immediately following OTA will participate in the 2nd Annual Organic Lifestyle Expo in Tokyo; highlighting USDA organic products to a curious Japanese market.  Did you know Japan is the third largest export destination for US organic products?  For more information on these activities please contact Monique Marez.

 

 

ICOA Annual Meeting

The Inter-American Commission for Organic Agriculture (ICOA), which comprises the organic competent authorities of countries of the Americas, is holding its Annual Meeting from July 15 – 21 in Portland Oregon. In June 2008, the ministers of agriculture of the western hemisphere created the ICOA for the purpose of contributing to the further development of organic agriculture in their countries and facilitating trade of organic produce.  ICOA is a sub group of Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) supporting cooperation on agriculture in the Americas since 1942.  OTA is honored to plan and host this meeting. Thursday, July 20, is an open to the public day where guests will learn about organic in the Americas and hear from industry experts on growing organic in the western hemisphere.  For information or to RSVP please contact Monique Marez.

 

 

Sustainable Food Summit

The Sustainable Food Summit will be held June 1-2 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. OTA will present at the European edition of the Sustainable Foods Summit a gathering of more than 120 senior executives from the food industry to debate key sustainability issues. The aim of the Sustainable Foods Summit is to explore new horizons for eco-labels and sustainability in the food industry by discussing key industry issues.  Contact Monique Marez if you are interested in attending or learning more about the conference.

 

Seoul Food and Hotel

USITC Annual Labor Roundtable

The USITC Annual Labor Roundtable will be held March 29. This is not a public hearing but it is also not closed to the public; as such it tends to be informal and free-flowing.  The first topic we will address is the role of trade in U.S. labor markets, and the second are the economic factors involved in understanding the intersection of trade and labor. IFT 2017 Annual Meeting and Food Expo

Sunday, June 25, 2017 - 10:00am to Wednesday, June 28, 2017 - 6:00pm

The IFT 2017 Annual Meeting and Food Expo will take place in Las Vegas, NV, June 25-28, 2017. The Organic Trade Association will be attending and presenting in a session titled "Developing Organic and Natural Ingredients for Use in Organic Products." Attendees will learn about several approaching regulatory changes to the USDA organic regulations on the use of natural flavors, colors, carrageenan and celery powder and gain an appreciation of the market opportunity available for food technologists who specialize in creating organic and natural alternatives. The presentation is scheduled for Wednesday, June 28, 10:30am-12:00pm. Speakers include Kim Dietz, Senior Manager of Environmental, Natural and Organic with J.M. Smucker Co., Steve Pierce, CEO of Ribus Inc., Tony Moore, Chief Flavorist at Flavor Producers, and Erin Silva, Assistant Professor with University of Wisconsin-Madison. The session will be moderated by OTA's VP of Regulatory and Technical Affairs.

GOTS Regional Meeting in NYC

Thursday, May 4, 2017 - 10:00am to Saturday, May 6, 2017 - 7:00pm

A Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) regional meeting will take place on Thursday, May 4, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Yotel Hotel, 570 10th Ave. (corner of 41st St), Club Cabin #4 (4th floor) in New York City. The meeting will cover changes to the standard with the release of version 5.0 and allow time to answer your questions in person. If you plan to attend the regional meeting, send a confirmation e-mail to Lori Wyman, GOTS North American Representative. The GOTS meeting will be held in conjunction with the Organic Trade Association’s Organic Fiber and Textiles Media Event featuring a two-day pop-up store to showcase certified organic fiber products and brands across all categories nationwide. The venue for the media event is Treehaus in New York City at 470 West 42nd Street, May 4-6, with a VIP Reception the evening of May 4.

USDA Agriculture Outlook Forum

The United States Department of Agriculture's 93rd Agricultural Outlook Forum will take place February 23-24, 2017 at the Crystal Gateway Marriott Hotel in Arlington, VA. The theme will be "A New Horizon: The Future of Agriculture." The Organic Trade Association's CEO Laura Batcha and Farm Policy Director Nate Lewis will both be speaking. Registration is now open!
