Global Organic Textiles Standard (GOTS) Strategy Meeting

On June 23-24, Marni Karlin (OTA’s Vice President of Government Affairs/General Counsel), who serves as OTA’s representative on the GOTS Advisory Council, and Gwendolyn Wyard (OTA's Senior Director of Regulatory and Technical Affairs) who serves as the GOTS Technical Representative for North America, will be attending a GOTS strategy meeting in Frankfurt, Germany.

WSDA Organic Advisory Board Meeting

The Washington State Department of Agriculture’s Organic Advisory Board Meeting is Thursday May 14, 2015 (10:00 AM – 4:00 PM Pacific) in Ellensburg, WA The Organic Advisory Board provides guidance to WSDA on its organic certification program and provides WSDA a forum to communicate important changes in the organic industry to key organic stakeholders in Washington State.  OTA’s Senior Crops and Livestock Specialist, Nate Lewis, currently sits on the advisory board in a designated “Industry Supporter” seat.

Silicon Valley AgTech Conference

Royce Law AgTech will present the 2015 Silicon Valley AgTech Conference Monday, May 11, at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, CA. This event will bring together farmers, technologists, venture capitalists and governmental representatives to discuss how technology will affect farming. Among the speakers will be OTA’s CEO/Executive Director Laura Batcha and Lynn Clarkson from OTA member company Clarkson Grain.

National Press Foundation Training

The National Press Foundation is holding a 4-day training program on agriculture for 20 journalists in St. Louis July 19-22; OTA is one of the sponsors, and as part of that sponsorship, we will be doing a presentation on organic, and helping to identify an organic farm in the area for the journalists to tour. North American Agricultural Journalists Annual Meeting

Laura Batcha, OTA's CEO/Executive Director is one of the invited speakers at the North American Agricultural Journalists annual meeting in Washington on April 27 and 28. Other featured speakers are the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, and the chairmen and ranking members of the House and Senate Agriculture Committees. Laura will be speaking to the group on April 28. Attendees at the NAAJ meeting include the top agricultural and farm industry reporters in the country.
