When organic shoppers browse grocery store shelves, they’re free to pick up products to review labels for organic content, certification claims, and information about the organic certifier of the product. Access to this information assures the shopper that the product in their cart was produced in compliance with USDA organic regulations. What is the role of eCommerce sites in ensuring this information is readily available? What information should consumers expect to see when shopping on these platforms? A recent petition to the National Organic Standards Board (NOSB) requests a regulatory amendment to address this topic.
