In reference to the opinion piece by The Packer’s National Editor Tom Karst on Nov. 4, “Organic needs unifying message, but is it possible?” the Organic Trade Association is pleased to see that Mr. Karst recognizes the important potential and value of an organic check-off research and promotion program. However, we want to clarify that the purpose of an organic check-off would not be to lobby for organic standards.
