Any hobbies outside of work?

“DIY/home improvement, interior design, and grilling/smoking.”

What are you most looking forward to at OTA?

Lucie Shamlou, Industry Relations Coordinator

Lucie Shamlou, based in San Diego County, California, brings a background in food and wellness. She holds a psychology degree with a minor in Communication Studies from the University of San Diego and spent time studying abroad in Madrid. Her first job after college was with a health food start-up she discovered at a farmer’s market.

“We just started talking, and I loved the mission and the brand. I actually ran back and asked, ‘Hey, do you need an intern?’”

In her new role, Lucie will support OTA members and focus on deepening engagement

“Member engagement will be a big part of my position, and I’m excited to have direct conversations with members and keep them involved.”

Q&A with Lucie

What originally drew you to organic?

“My lifestyle reflects OTA’s mission. I always try to buy local and eat seasonally—I even get my eggs from a neighbor’s farm stand. Learning about organic has become a hobby for me, especially nutrition, regenerative farming, and how they support physical health.”

Do you know your Myers-Briggs type?

“ENFP—the Campaigner.”

Favorite book or recent read?

“I just read The Secret History by Donna Tartt. My all-time favorite is Little Bee by Chris Cleave—it’s about a refugee in the UK, and it’s incredible.”

Any hobbies outside of work?

“I’m in California, so I love surfing—even though I tend to break boards! I also take film photos and make prints. I grew up dancing and still take the occasional class during the week.”

What are you most looking forward to at OTA?

“The relationships—with members, with our network. I’m really curious about entrepreneurs and small businesses, so I’m grateful and excited to be here.”
