We started Harmless Harvest® to make the most amazing coconut water in the most ethical way possible. It’s a work in progress, but we’re committed to growing our standards and living up to our name.

Speaking of growing, we’ve got a bustling HQ in Oakland, plus 133 team members (and counting) living and working in Thailand, where the bulk of our operation takes place. Staying close to the ground keeps us invested in every step of the process and every community along the way.

We source our unique coconuts from small organic agroforestry farms, then use a cutting-edge, heatless, high-pressure process for food safety and extended shelf life in your fridge. The result is the outstanding flavor and nutrition of raw and organic.

Back to the heart of our story: the coconut. We searched the world (ok, most of it) for the very best coconut water. We found it in Thailand, inside a small coconut called the Nam Hom, a name that aptly means "fragrant ones."

Every Nam Hom farm we work with is organic certified. That’s a big deal because it’s the only way to verify that our coconuts are grown without the use of persistent pesticides, synthetic fertilizers or sewage sludge. It also means our coconuts are not irradiated or produced with GMOs.

Greg Harrison grew up in a rural community in Iowa and received his DVM degree from Iowa State University in 1967. He established his own private small animal practice in Florida in 1969, and his professional interests involved a wide variety of species, including a stint with zoo animals at Lion Country Safari in West Palm Beach. When a chlamydiosis outbreak occurred in a large aviculture/pet shop facility in 1973, he was called upon to help resolve this, and his specific passion for pet bird species began.

Heavy importation of pet birds into the USA was occurring at that time, and he was instrumental in introducing endoscopic examination of monomorphic pet bird species for sex determination. Because of this physical contact with a large number of bird species, he began to notice that individuals that had been in captivity for some time were no longer bright, beautiful and healthy-looking. Plus, reproductive results were spotty at best.

Captive birds at that time were fed primarily sunflower seeds, so he began to experiment with various dietary formulas to try to improve their health. After consulting with successful aviculturists and avian nutritionists, a line of formulated foods was developed. Because of the high metabolic rate of birds and their sensitivity to pesticides and other chemical toxins in the environment, the exclusive use of certified organic ingredients became part of the program.

The carefully compounded foods, which were initially used in a clinical trial to improve the breeding results of a group of hyacinth macaws, became the basis for Harrison's Bird Foods, the world's first organic formulated pet food.

From the original development of bakery-produced "cakes" to the current ethically sourced and produced extruded nuggets, slight variations in the ingredients have been made over the years based on clinical results and research in a variety of avian species. But the constant goal has always been to produce the best product for longevity and overall health of the avian patient, whether during growth, egg-laying, molt, illness or adult maintenance.

Steaz, a brand of organic green tea-based beverages, was established in 2002 by Co-Founders, Steven Kessler & Eric Schnell. The Steaz brand, headquartered in Doylestown, PA, is currently owned by privately held Healthy Beverage Company, with majority shareholders including IVC, Maris Acquisitions, Garnett CDN Holdings, and its two Co-Founders. The company is presently led by Jay Garnett.

It is located in the village of Santa María de Fe, 225 kilometers south of Asunción, the capital of Paraguay. This is the area where the Jesuits began their evangelization in the 16th. century. They built protected reservations and missions to educate the indigenous people and showed them how to work the soil and raise cattle. Conservation of the environment is therefore a very high priority in the local community and HIBERNIA MISIONES plays an important and complimentary role in this regard, hence all of our products are 100% organic.

Being outside, farming, and family were, and still are a foundation that I built my business and life on. I graduated high school in 1995 from Hobgood Academy when veteran crop consultant Larry Pendleton gave me a job "scouting cotton". This summer cycle of cotton and college lasted for five years during my stay at NCSU. I hold a Bachelors of Science degree in Agriculture Extension and Education and still enjoy the resources and professors there. The next crop consulting experience came from another pioneer of the trade, Will Connell. His knowledge of all things agriculture and motorcycles led me to where I am today. Two growing seasons with Will and my crop consulting license led to my own business. A 36 year old life of agriculture, 18 seasons of crop scouting, 11 seasons advising growershave all given me deep respect for the job we all do. Making your living with mother nature is not something for the faint of heart. We take pride in our services and working for local farmers who we feel are industry leaders. We enjoy our work. We are an interdisciplinary team of sweetness fanatics, born from startups in Chile and Mexico. We are connected by a common passion; producing stevia leaves, extracts and sweet solutions which provide added functionality, reduced sugar, low calories and a great taste for our customers.

What did we do?
We realized that an excess of sugar is added into processed foods across the world.

We envisioned the need to reduce that sugar excess through a 100% natural approach, without affecting the taste of the products we love.

So we searched all over the globe and found a plant called Stevia Rebaudiana Bertoni, which produces family of sweet compounds we refer to as stevia extract.

What did we create?
The first organic stevia production process, which is 100% aqueous during all stages of extraction and purification.

We took on a challenge: Maintain the purity and the integrity of stevia from leaf to extract. We developed the first organic process for extracting and purifying this wonderful sweetener without the use of alcohol or enzymes. In fact, our stevia is 100% purified in water.
