Beginning with our formation in 1996, the mission of Earthcrew, Inc., has been to develop and manufacture environmentally safe products without further compromising our shared ecosystem. Earth is sending us an SOS (SAVE OUR SOIL) and needs our help. Soil and its living organisms need food and air to do their work effectively, not more chemical fertilizers and pesticides. We are only beginning to understand the role of soil in storing and regulating carbon The soil covering our planet is vital to our living system and its health matters – to everyone. Organic fertilizers, soil and feed amendments, remediation, and microbial products assist in restoring the health and productivity of our soil. Earthcrew specializes in providing the foods that support this living system. Soil and its living organisms provide an underground defense system providing numerous services to our lives. These organisms need simple foods to do their work effectively. Productive soils are essential for nutritious food. Healthy soil teeming with microorganisms purifies our drinking water. Soil plays a vital role in maintaining the balance of gases we breathe. Treat soil as if your life depends on it; it does.

Seth and Spike met back in 2017 at a food policy panel at George Washington University. The always eager salesman/entrepreneur, Seth brought along a cooler of Honest Tea and Beyond Burgers, and snuck it under Spike’s chair. Though initially skeptical of veggie burgers, Spike cooked up some Beyond burgers at home for his family, including his wife who is vegan, and was hooked!

From then on the two started collaborating on food innovation concepts guided by Seth's track record for mission based entrepreneurship and Spike's expertise in creating indulgent dining experiences.

Their first collaboration was PLNT Burger, a plant-based, quick-service restaurant that opened in September 2019. The menu, featuring Beyond burgers and sausage, as well fries, soft-serve and more, was recognized by DCEater as #1 vegan restaurant in the area.

While sourcing ingredients for PLNT, Seth and Spike paid a visit to a fourth generation organic mushroom farm based in Kennett Square, PA. There they learned about the production of yellow oyster mushrooms, and how their fruiting bodies, which are normally composted, can serve as a great substitute for a chicken filet. This discovery sparked the creation of a PLNT menu fan favorite: THE CRISPY CHIK N’ FUNGUY, a delicious sandwich made from this upcycled ingredient.

With their eyes opened to the possibilities of mushrooms as a blank canvas for amazing flavor combinations, they started to explore what other delicious foods they could create. They also realized they had a great brand name embedded inside of one of PLNT Burger's marketing slogans: "Eat the change you wish to see in the world."

Soon after, Eat the Change™ organic mushroom jerky was born.

The European Organic Certifiers Council (EOCC) is a group of organic control bodies who are interested in cooperation and exchange of information.
The first meeting in 2000 was held in order to discuss the formation of an European group active within the framework of the EC Regulation for organic agriculture and foodstuffs. So far more than 40 control bodies world wide are member of the EOCC. In 2010 EOCC has been formally registered in Belgium as an international association.
