Rise Up Coffee has been an independent small-batch coffee roaster and retailer since March 2005. Rise Up originated from an explosive combination of ambition and circumstance. Owner Tim Cureton had what would prove to be a life changing coffee experience while traveling home from the Peace Corps service. His love affair with great coffee had begun. Utilizing a $16,000 business loan, Cureton opened the first Rise Up Coffee. Rise Up began as a coffee trailer, before there were TV shows and movies about food trucks. What started in a parking lot in a town with a population of 1,029 has evolved into five high-volume cafe locations, a very active online store and many new exciting wholesale relationships.

Rise Up is known for its people. Now staffed by over sixty amazing people, among them is Tim’s lifelong friend and business partner, Noah Kegley who joined the company in 2010 and now serves as Head Roaster.

In 2012, with an intention to engage and captivate, Rise Up opened a coffee roastery in Easton, MD. In a former gas station built in the 1920’s, the artfully renovated space was designed to show off the world of coffee, from crop to cup. The diversity of coffee cultures and complexity of taste are on display daily.

Rise Up is dedicated to only roasting sustainable coffees Certified Organic + Certified Fair Trade. This decision isn’t based on buzz-words or marketing, it’s literally rooted in our love for our farmers and their families.

Round River Farm produces organic, shelled walnuts for distribution to local grocery retailers (Lake, Sonoma, & Mendocino Counties).

The name ‘Round River Farm’ comes from Aldo Leopold, “A Sand County Almanac”. I liked the name as soon as Erica proposed it. Alliterative, evocative of the cycles of life. And inspired by a figure we both hugely admire. Over the years I have wondered if we could live up to such a high aspiration, but we’ve kept it ever since that inspired moment. Are we worthy of the name? It helps keep us properly oriented.

When we first moved here, we took over a farm from a family who had been here since the 1950’s. Established as a dairy farm since at least WWII, it was planted to a walnut grove as dairy declined in the area in the late 1950’s. There were several thriving walnut orchards in those days, but now that's in decline too for a variety of reasons: the parcels are small (by industry standards); the old trees bear heirloom varieties are 'out of favor' in the market place, and we are quite distant from the core of the state's nut industry.

But what did we know in 1998? Erica and I saw an opulent plot of land, full of vitality; a home to abundant bird life, with rich, inherently fertile soil: we wondered, how did everyone else miss this one? The air and the water seemed impossibly pure. The oldest trees must have been close to a hundred years old by then, but they all seemed a shiny dark green and full of optimism. Over the years we’ve experienced the renewal that follows fire. We've seen the forgiveness for our thoughtlessness towards the land. We've come to appreciate the reliability of water, the resilience of the land through flood and drought, and the ever-repeating promise of another chance. I understand a little better the words a wry old farmer told me in my youth, "Farming is a terminal disease".

In 2017, I left my job as a vineyard manager in the winegrape industry to see if we couldn't make the walnut orchard into a more successful business of it's own. Up to then, we would harvest our nuts, send them to a nearby farm with a dehydrator (which gets them cleaned up and dry), and then deliver to a 'handler' who would pay us for the in-shell nuts. We didn't make any money in the beginning growing conventionally: in fact, in 2002 we were awarded "Highest Quality Hartley Walnuts" in the entire state of California (by Diamond of Calif, the farmer owned cooperative), but we were paid less than state average price that year. (One barrier to entering organic production: we were locked in to a 10 year contract with Diamond, and they offered no premium for organic nuts!) We decided to certify organic anyway, starting down that path in 2004. Eventually we were released from our commitment to Diamond, and we sold our first organic crop in 2006. The premium price made it worth it, even as I worked off the farm during the week, then came home to work nights and weekends.

In 2017 we split our crop, selling half to a certified organic handler and contracting a certified 'co-packer' in the San Joaquin Valley (a 4 hour drive from here) to shell and pack the other half into 25 lb case boxes, which I then sold through the Mendo-Lake Food Hub and to local grocery stores. Wow...people really responded positively. Who knew?

But the Central Valley walnut industry is big. Really big. I mean, sheesh. Huge. It has been a struggle to squeeze in between the elephants to get our nuts processed in a timely way, or even to get back the same nuts we delivered (but that's a story for another day). We've worked with 3 different co-packers in a 4 year period (pandemic took us out for 2 years), but never had a completely satisfactory result. Harvesting in October, we could never get nuts shelled & packed before February or March, so we've always missed the holiday market, and that hurts.

In 1972 Lester Rovey started Rovey Seed Company, Inc. along with three of his sons Glenn, Leonard, and Stanley in Farmersville, IL. The company initially cleaned public soybean varieties for farmers. One year, though, Lester started growing white corn on his farm and the white corn and food grade grain sales quickly became the primary focus of the operation. Today we contract and process white, yellow, and blue corn and food grade soybeans.

Over the years Rovey Seed Company has become a trusted source of high quality food grains and ingredients. We are continually investing in the latest cleaning technology and equipment to improve our products and improve our efficiencies. In 2009, Rovey Specialty Grains, LLC was formed when we purchased a cleaning facility serviced by the railroad in Inland, Nebraska.

This new facility allowed us to offer our grain products further west. We now are able to cost effectively ship throughout the entire US and Canada and overseas. Also, our Nebraska production is produced under irrigation which ensures our customers a steady supply of quality grain products.

Today the owners still grow food grade corn and soybeans on their own farms. We also offer competitive grower contracts for producers who are looking to add to their bottom line.

Royal Apparel is a premium knit apparel manufacturer. We are proud to produce all of our 100% certified organic cotton yarns, fabrics and, t-shirts/apparel/garments in the USA. We carry a wide variety of styles in inventory, including women's, men's, youth, toddler and infant, in natural and dyed colors. Our in stock program is available with no minimum quantities. We also offer other services such as private label and custom development programs and re-labeling. Since its founding, Royal Ridge Fruits has grown into a leading processor of premium quality frozen and dried fruit. The company supplies global and regional manufacturers producing a wide range of foods, including ready-to-eat and hot cereal, granola bars, trail mixes, yogurt, pies and muffins. Leading retailers rely on Royal Ridge to produce their valued packaged dried fruit store brands.

Royal Ridge has continued to expand its production and distribution capabilities to meet growing demand. The plant-now 200,000 square feet-remains near the farm in central Washington State. Distribution centers in the Western and Eastern U.S. allow Royal Ridge to efficiently deliver complete orders on-time. Vertical integration-from farm to freezer-allows the company to produce premium quality processed fruit at a competitive price.

Rudi's bakery produces certified organic and kosher certified artisan breads; sandwich breads; spelt bread; bagels and buns; and hamburger and hot dog buns.

Sacramento Packing, Inc. is a prune packing and processing facility established by the Bains family in 1991.

Our state-of-the-art Plant boasts more than 40,000 sq. ft. in capacity, with 80,000 sq. ft. in storage facilities. Despite its early construction, our Plant remains one of the newest in the industry, thanks to our modernized facility and equipment upgrades.

Our machinery and equipment are inspected daily prior to operations, with annual inspections randomly conducted by the USDA, DFA and high-end clientele. In addition, our products are indiscriminately quality tested and certified by both in-house QA Lab Techs and 3rd party certified labs to ensure excellent standards are developed, monitored, and maintained.

We sell to buyers all around the world (nearly 70% in Export sales), so we depend on the reliability of our product.
