Black Farmers Index started as a project launched by Ark Republic on April 14, 2020 as media project to provide a small list of Black farmers to address the rising issues of food security during the pandemic. Initially, the list was 150 farmers. Today we have over 1,000 farmers.

How did we grow? Because of the overwhelming response from the public during the George Floyd protests, when Juneteenth came along, there was an explosion of people across racial and social lines interested in supported Black growers. Quickly, the Index organically involved into its own identity.

In July 2020, we became a non-profit organization. In November 2021, we were granted 501 c3 status is pending.

Blackleaf Organic Vodka is the creation of Washington, DC resident, Kevin Larkai, who met Bertrand Laclie while vacationing in Cognac. Kevin and Bertrand bonded over a shared passion for the creation of premium consumer experiences. Brownfield Seed & Delinting (BS&D) is a respected seed processor, so we believe that only the best seeds should be used.
We offer custom and commercial cottonseed Delinting. BS&D is the team to call for quality seeds, and economic commodity placements in any quantity at excellent rates. Our company respects all seed PVPs and test for GMO traits, as not to infringe upon other companies products.

BROWNFIELD SEED AND DELINTING (BS&D)have been in the cotton seed Delinting business since 1959. In 2003 we ceased operating our computerized state of the art plant due to changes in the cotton seed market. Now with the shift back to conventional seed varieties we have updated our facility and are back in the Delinting business. BS&D is offering growers the opportunity to clean their non-PPV variety. All cotton seeds will be tested for GMO & PPV, if any seeds tested have those traits they will be sent to the crusher for appropriate handling. Our goal, at BS&D, is to offer top of the line service!

Our GMO test is standard and included in the delinting charge.
Standard treatment includes Storcide, Thiram, Colorant, Calcium Carbonate, Turbo grow and Talc
Additional seed treatments will be available upon request, may be additional charge depending on treatment.
We use brown bags with easy open tags for delinted cotton.

If seeds fail due to GMO testing, the seed will be sent to the crusher immediately. The grower will be charged for the GMO testing and the freight to the crusher
